Bird Cage Accessories

By Reader

The bird has to have certain items like the food and water dishes along with the perch to stand on. The dishes made out of stainless steel, high impact plastics or crockery are all good to use. A extra larger bowl for a bird bath is needed as well. Birds even like to be sprayed or misted. Be sure the water in the bottle is clean and free or any chemicals. A extra dish for treats is great if you have room. Birds like a wide variety of foods.

After the essentials have been meet, placing some fun time toys in the cage is good. This increases physical and mental exercise. Birds will get very bored and start to find things to entertain their selves with which may not be a god thing. Being birds love to pick, chew and shred, they will do this on everything, even their selves. Feather plucking can be a sign of boredom. As you clean the cage and feed the bird daily, take a few minutes to check the items for the behavior. Birds will chew for example on the rope perches. Check to be sure there is no fraying that the bird might get their claws stuck in. When purchasing the toys and accessories, make sure there is no dyes, chemicals or leads that will hurt the bird. Make sure the bird has smaller items that can be picked up and played with by the feet and claws.

It is also important after all the items are placed in the cage that the bird still has room to stretch and flap the wings. It is also important that the tail feathers do not touch the back or the bottom of the cage. Birds need room in the cage to move and walk around a little. Just like people they need the physical and mental stimulus to make for a balanced , happy life.

The health and happiness of your bird is largely do to the bird cage. The bird cage accessories can help to entertain the bird to keep him/her from self destructive behavior. Always make sure there is plenty of extra room in the cage for the bird to stretch and walk for exercise after all of the bird cage accessories have been entered.
